The name google was inspired by the names “googol” and “googolplex”. But this post is not about google company but about the number “googolplex”.
As per Wikipedia, the Googol term was coined in 1920 by 9-year-old Milton Sirotta (1911–1981), nephew of U.S. mathematician Edward Kasner. The googol is a number 10^100. In simple words, it is 1 followed by 100 zeros.
The “googolplex” is a number 10^googol. In numerical form, it would be 1 followed by 1000 zeros. At many places on internet it is written that the number can not be written in numerical form, but It would be wrong to say that, because we can write the number “1 followed by 1000 zeros”. If 1 digit is written in 1 cm, to write 1 “Googleplex” number, 1001 cm long paper is required.
But it is almost impossible to write all the numbers from 1 to 1 googleplex, because there is no space in the whole universe to do so.
1 googolplex is a number that can be physically interpreted, but a number larger than 1 googolplex can be imagined.
So “googolplex” is just a normal number like any number, e.g. “43597”. Numbers greater than “googolplex” exist.
